I cleaned the oven and tried to open the oven door a few hours later and it is still locked . Any Ideas ?

It is a self clean oven and it had not finished the cycle (waited 18 hours for it to unlock). Instead of calling a repair man again (2nd time it has done this) I started the self clean again and waited a few seconds to cancel it and it unlocked.

I can tell you from RECENT experience (!!! had made a call to the over repair man last Sunday, who set me straight!!!), that the oven will not uplock until it is completely cooled down. There is a temperature gauge inside that releases the locking mechanism once it reaches a certain (cool) temp.

Be patient - if it is insulated well, it may take a day to unlock!!
I hope this helps - and gives you a sense of relief... you didn't break the oven!! ;o)

Maybe the cleaning supplies you used got dried up around the edges of the oven door and caused it to shut (much like when paint dries and "glues" things shut). I don't think oven doors have a lock on them so this might be why. Try squirting the outside of it with a bottle of water to loosen up the cleaner that may dried on there.

The oven probably isn't done with the cycle. Mine did the same thing and it took it 24 hours to unlock itself. Get some takeout or use your microwave for now.

There is a latch that closes as the oven heats up. It will not release until the oven has cooled off. This is a safety feature so you don't open it when it is cleaning at high temperature and burn yourself.

This is normal. The oven will not unlock until it has cooled. That way it doesn't burn someone. give it 5 or 6 hours. If it hasn't unlicked by then you will have to get a repairman in.

Sometimes you have to wait until the oven is totally cooled off.

If it gained't launch once the oven cools, placed it into self-sparkling and then cancel the self-sparkling. that ought to do it. If it would not, submit your kind huge kind and that i will seem it up.

Well, how about the make/model of the oven?
Maybe we could investigate if we knew who makes it.
