The surface soil is a strong oxidizing agent, being full of peroxide compounds that would destroy terrestrial life on contact. That does not mean there are not friendlier environs below the surface, nor that martian life could not have adapted to it.

None. Mars has the same composition as Earth, except that Mars is lacking some amount of oxygen.

Carbon Monoxide(CO), Sulphur Dioxide(SO2) and many poisonous gases are present on Mars.
