I was planning on investing in one. I still wash floors the old fashioned way, on my hands and knees. I hate cleaning floors, but it has to be done. I clean my floors once a week, but would like something to use in between cleans. Does the Swiffer really work? Can you recommend something better?
Thanks for your help :)

I live in a small apartment so it only needs to be used for the bathroom and kitchen, everthing else is carpeted. Also is the bottom of the mop removable like the swiffer dust mops???

I would recommend it for small areas like the bathroom or if you have tile in a small kitchen. I've never used it in a big room, so I don't know if it holds up for the whole job.
Also, make sure you sweep/vacuum the room REALLY well beforehand especially if it's the bathroom. I made the mistake of slacking off in that area once & it pushed all the brushed-out hair on my bathroom floor to the edges of the room & I had to clean that up by hand. Yuck!!!

My experience has been the same as ncmariofan. I have a dog and the swiffer just doesn't cut it. It pushes the dirt around and if you're not careful, you end up with dirt and hair pushed into the crevice by the wall. I always end up picking up the excess dirt with a clorox wipe. Plus the pad isn't very obsorbent. When I pick it up to get the pad off, the excess water steams back onto the floor. Plus it doesn't get scuff marks up too well.
However... it does dry REALLY fast! And it is quicker then mopping or even "old fashioned" cleaning (even with having to pick up the excess dirt and hair).

I think the Swiffer would be fine if you don't have pets. I heard that some pets died after walking on a floor that had been cleaned with the swiffer cleaner and then licking their paws. There's some chemical in it that affects their kidney or liver. This problem may have been resolved. I would check into it to make sure but other than that the Swiffer would be good. I have the Clorox ReadyMop which is similar to the WetJet. It works well for me.

I honestly don't think they're worth it. I wouldn't have bought it had I known. It just pushes the dirt (wet dirt when you use the sprayer) around on the floor. The pads do not absorb the water (and dirt). Also, when you have a scuff mark or a really dirty area you can't push down on the Swiffer hard enough to get the marks off, the shaft bends too much. I prefer to use a real mop (the sponge kind) that you can rinse and keep using.
Just my opinion, hope it helps.

the swiffer is worthless...it's almost as good as using a baby wipe on your floors. I've seen my maid do a neat trick: she takes a rag dipped in pinesol/water solution, then places it on the floor. She then pushes the rag around with the opposite end of a broom. works better than a swiffer!!!

I love my Swiffer WetJet! I got mine last year, and I use it twice a week it is so easy. Swiffer Wetjet does a grate job too! I would give it a try. I would not give up mine. :)

I'm not impressed. it's good for a quick once over, but that's about it. I prefer my heavy duty mop and a good strong floor cleaner.

Yes..if you have kids and can't get them to do anything, this helps because they won't get down and dirty. It's basically buying freedom. It's also very convenient and it does the job well.
