i've taken out 32 cypress evergreens and now miss the privacy. I don't need complete privacy, filtered is fine. I'd like the height ideally around 5-6 feet and relatively low maintenance. Color is great. thanks!

crape myrtle will look long and leggy if you keep it trimmed like a hedge. Why not try forsythia or rose of sharon. They both are quick growers and need very little maintenance. Trimmed and cleaned out periodically. They bothadd color and are green year round

Based on the crepe myrtles I've seen around here, they'd be miserable for privacy. They're naked for a good portion of the year. They are also definitely NOT "low maintenance".

Get something that's evergreen if you're looking for privacy.

It is called Crepe Myrtle. In my opinion it will not make a good hedge. Try a more shrub-like plant. Ask for advice at a locally owned nursery, find someone who knows something about plants. Tell them exactly what you want, the light conditions during the day, etc. You really do have alot of choices.

I believe for the privacy you are looking for you need to go for ever green and simply plant some annual color.

two good screening plants
wax myrtle
maybe a light fencing with star jasmine

both will need little pruning and takes care of itself pretty much when established

Plant something to replace all the flora you destroyed. Also try to learn spelling. Crate?
