I would never ever ever recommend depo to anyone for a contraceptive. I was on it for four years and had NO period (though I did have spotting at odd times). I also had weight gain, horrible mood swings, and almost no libido.

You may not ever get a period on depo, or you could bleed for months straight. Its different in each woman.

Please reconsider depo.

I've heard some real horror stories about the shot. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and if you've had a period for two and a half weeks, you should talk to your doctor because that is not normal and it's not healthy. I would really think about getting on a different hormonal method...maybe try NuvaRing since it's similar in the sense that you only need to replace it only once a month instead of taking a pill once a day.

The depo has that side effect. I was put on it and had a constant period for 3 1/2 months. It was unbearable. But what you can do is go to your ob/gyn and they will prescribe you low dose birth control pills to help regulate your cycle. I have heard that ortho tri cyclen low is a good form of low dose birth control pills. Just talk to your ob/gyn and they will be able to help you find a good birth control pill for you. Good luck.

They make a new intrauterine device that the doctor puts in and has less hormones. You can ask your doctor. My daughter has the same problem with bleeding on both the pills and the depo shot.
