Nice rant, I can really appreciate it. I do feel safer, since last November when a democratic majority was returned to congress. It provided the vehicle for checks and balance's, you know it is working because the repuglicans are whining about it. From a non-binding resolution, to this last funding bill to the war they are sending a message that George Bush no longer has a blank check. It is still early in the term to tell how far that it will go but it certainly is a step in the right direction. .

Yes. Gated communities and private security and severe security laws can keep privileged families isolated and protected from poor people, homeless people, or people with different cultures. Do wealthy families feel safer with strict laws that strip most Americans of their rights? It's a safe bet that many do. Have you noticed that the police are more careful about their actions related to citizens of higher socio-economic status? (threat of law suits perhaps?)
Unfortunately, we are seeing law enforcement being applied unequally. Allah help the Middle Easterner who comes to the country with suspicious property like boxes of cell phones. If you are an anti-war protester, don't be surprised if your meetings are visited by undercover police... Don't be surprised if your phones calls are monitored and your email is read.
It's not uncommon these days for people in other countries to be arrested for crimes that have not been committed. Now prove that you haven't planned a terrorist action. By the way, you don't get to challenge the accusations in court. It appears that the United States has more prisons domestically than most... not to mention the prisons on foreign soil.
All in all, our country is much closer to the reality of the movie "V for Vendetta" than most people are willing to admit. The "war on drugs" is a joke and many communities are suffering from crime associated with drugs that are smuggled from many parts of the world including Iraq (now once again since the US has taken over).
I do not feel safer and 90% of the American citizens are not safer. However, I do believe that the passing of these laws will help protect 10% of the population that has the financial resources to live in safe communities and protect themselves from unfair treatment.

I still count ten. look in the Bill of rights, the other amendments, and the constitution, and you will never see privacy listed once. And unless protests get violent, or media personel leak military strategies by drawing the plans in the sand just before the strike, the first still seems intact as well. And the due process legal rights amendments do not apply to non-citizens.

I feel much safer. But, I don't feel like my country is safe/secure. Due to some of the blatant disregard for our Constitution, on both sides of the isle.
Why am I safer. I can now purchase 100 rnd drum magzines for my AR-15. Something I could not do a couple of years ago.
No I don't duck hunt with it, I use a 5 shot clip to deer hunt with. The 100 rnd drum, sits beside it's brother, safely in my closet. Just in case my neighbor knocks on my door with a 10 shot Berreta.

i feel more unsafe than i ever have with Bush in office....ten rights IS a good amount...every single one is important...should people be able to buy automatic weapons? no, I'm sorry but you don't hunt ducks with an Uzi. should they be able to own a gun? yes.
we should have all of these rights, however there should be restrictions on these rights...the constitution was drafted so that it could change with the times...banning certain parts of the bill of rights I'm sure was not in their plans.

to the rest of the world, we are the terrorists, why can't we stop spreading that bullshit capitalistic system, and this is old, Ever heard of the opium wars, britain, france and the US joined up and smuggled opium to china to stabilize the trade balance, and to weaken the chinese emperor.
how great are the allies.
why can't they just stop spreading their dammed capitalistic system from the world, we don't want it, why did the US have to intervene in Chile and kill a democratically elected president and put a dictator who killed thousands, (and not to speak about other countries who they have done it too)
but we all just relax and call out TERRORIST to the first ****** that defies us.

I don't feel safe or secure with this adminstration in office. I just hope nothing happens before we can vote in a new adminstration.

Americans got too scared too easily, and were too trusting of a guy who was a good cheerleader for one day. And so in the end, the terrorists have taken our freedoms because we have so easily relinquished them to those who said they would protect us.
