It would definitely be an added advantage because they will be able to share the do's and don'ts with you and they are likely to know people in this field who can give you a chance to kick-start your career.

The only advantage I know of is the same advantage one gets from effective networking. You get the inside track on hiring procedures in the industry, things to expect from the job, a person or persons who can help you understand the pros and cons of the profession, and a hand in connecting with others in the profession. Of course, this is all contingent upon how social your parents are.

It's a significant advantage. Many jobs, especially the harder to get ones, are all about who you know and many people have to rely of networking to get themselves in a good position to getting the job they want. By having someone like a parent in the field, they'll be able to do a lot of your networking for you and in many cases they already have contacts that will be able to put you in a position you want to be.

Depends on the parents. It can be a big advantage, but not if they don't help.
