2 One brick and the other is metal (not sure what its made out of really) The brick one is huge and the other one is in our den. Runs on gas if we want it too--but prefer wood

Look to see if there is a chimney. If there is one, there is either a fireplace, or a desire to impress the neighbors.
There is a small Mormon company that supplies such faux chimneys. It is a Salt Lake firm called Control Cover, and offers realistic covers (and smoke pellets) for such false chimneys, which makes the neighbors believe you really do own a working fireplace.
Don't laugh folks, the unit can boost a home's value by $4,500 on average. It takes just an hour to install.
PS - The company will offer faux toilets, garages and pools in 2008. Amazing but true!

It covers this whole wall, and it's great.
