The Italians are the most beautiful and inspiring people who have ever lived. Since the Renaissance, they have given the world many of the great geniuses who have shaped our lives. Unfortunately, they haven't always made the best choices and they still haven't worked out how to live together as a single nation. Paradoxically, that internal diversity is the greatest single cause both of their greatness and of their confusion.

I am Anglo-Italian, so I don't pretend to be objective.

Yes, they do cheat at football. They cheat at everything.

Edit ...
I concede that there is a certain amount of truth in what Danagasta says, but just remember ... Cristoforo Colombo was from Genoa ;-)

True Northern Italians have been the most advanced people in the world over the past 600 years. Unfortunately they are not really known in America, because they rarely immigrated here, yet still, the most famous "Italian Americans" have been of Northern Italian descent. Who do you think is behind the Cassini-Huygens Mission to Saturn? One radio host said "I didn't even know that Italy had a space program." This paradigm has got to be the joke of all time. I guess it's like if a European was asked if they "liked Americans," and they said "I traveled to Mississippi and I didn't like them."

Most of them are good people. I know a lot of Italians (I live in Italy) and like them. Of course, I can't say this about all Italians considering there are more than 50 million Italians in Italy and I-don't-know-how-many abroad and I personally have not met them all......What do YOU think of them?

Interesting people, Italians.
Funders of the basis of our society, the law and the principles of the state. You cannot understand the present world without them.
I can see you don't like them.
OK
But let me remind you that they have the highest number of Nobel price awards in the world, their per capita rent is higher than yours and... they won the world cup Beckham will never see!

Hello:
I was born in New York. My father was a Puerto Rican and my mother was Italian. Italians are just people.

Not the biggest fan of them. They're very clannish and don't seem to like non-Italians as much. Many think they're better than everyone, and if that was really the case, they wouldn't have had to come to the US to keep from starving to death.
