tanning bed was working but would shut off after about 5 minutes. now only the top lights will come on .

there is a contactor that controls both the top and bottom lights and it is hooked to your timer....it is possible that the contactor has gone bad and is only sending power to top bulb circuit...every light has its own ballast so it is unlikely they all went bad or all the bulbs went bad at the same time..you need to have a electrician or a tanning bed repairman to come check it

Some tanning beds have their own fuse system. It's possible that yours has blown the fuse for the top section, or it 's possible that one or more of the ballasts have died. There's really no way to check the ballasts, about all you can do is test to see if you have voltage getting to them. If your hot wires are showing voltage, then either the ballasts are bad or you've got a whole bunch of bad bulbs.
