In George Orwells 1984 is contained the phrase Freedom is Slavery.
There is no way a country can give it's people complete freedom. So naming your country, say in what ways freedom is slavery.

There are several ways of seeing this. One persons freedom enslaves others, as cigarettes/non smokers cars/ pedestrians.
The more progress a country makes, the more restrictions it puts onto its citizens.
However our freedom is regulated by our ability, we can choose to do many things, but until we obtain the ability, our freedom is limited. If we really want to achieve something worth while, we need to abandon lots of other 'freedoms' and dedicate ourselves to our specific goal, thus enslaving ourselves.

We are free in a way that we can 'choose' our own life.
However, the word 'choose' must be taken literally. You get different options, and from these you can pick some. But in the end all these options are regulated; rules and laws apply, and as we have rights, we also have duties. We have to pay taxes, follow the rules, obey when the government orders, ... .
And though most countries are democratic, how much influence do you have on the government? In elections, the majority is often the minority. If a party wins with 35 percent of the votes, the other 65 scattered over numerous other parties, that IS a minority. 65 Percent of the population did NOT vote for that particular party.
It happens quite often that laws of which you didn't even know the existence of, are approved.
If we leave alone the politics: freedom? No, you need to have money. If you don't have this, you will most likely not grow very old. Money is a necessity to buy food, and so we are controlled by it.
You can think of other examples.
This implies we are never truly free in society.

According to me, though, freedom is always an illusion. Even if there would be no society, we would be ruled by our needs for air, food, shelter, ... . Our actions are based on this and indeed we have no choice but to comply. If you do not subject to these needs, you will suffocate, starve, die of cold or burn... .
Thus. Even when you would have acquired freedom from other people, society; you live in slavery.

Don't I sound pessimistic?

I'm from the UK ,I think it's when a government tells you that we live in a free country (democratic), They are basically telling you, you are free as long as you follow our rules .So really were not free at all are we. We are slave's to the system and laws :)
