Since America was founded after the sword had passed from prominence on the battlefield it never really became a symbol of the country.

If I had to pick one, I go with the cavalry sword. It's the only one I know of that was issued to combat troops in the US. But I think a Colt revolver would be a more appropriate symbolic weapon for the US.
