Which sword/blade is the symbol of America?

Europe has the crusade one,
Japan has the katana,
Rome has the gladius,
But what about us?

Since America was founded after the sword had passed from prominence on the battlefield it never really became a symbol of the country.

If I had to pick one, I go with the cavalry sword. It's the only one I know of that was issued to combat troops in the US. But I think a Colt revolver would be a more appropriate symbolic weapon for the US.
