1982 was the last year of the .950 copper .050 tin and zinc. However the copper plated ones were also made that year. To tell the difference the cent has to be weighed. The copper weighs 3.11 grams the plated one 2.5 grammes. I believe your question has nothing to do with he value of the coin as a collector item but more as if the copper in the cent worth more than the cent itself. The answer is no, it is worth less. When the mint stated the cent and nickel cost more to make than their value. they figured in time, labor and shipping. Copper and nickel have gone down. One thing to think of is you will have to pay to have them melted if that was legal but the last time I checked the mint used there prerogative and made it illegal to do so. I am not sure if the ban on melting cents or nickel has been changed.

1982 was the last copper pennies though there is still copper in them today just copper coated zinc now.

Their value depends upon their condition... If the are in mint condition they are worth about 10 cents.
