Research is the key. Most of the inexpensive replicas for sale on-line and in retail shops are poorly made and historically inaccurate. If that doesn't bother you, then go ahead. Even a cheap replica can look good on your wall with the right presentation.

Some companies specialize is historically accurate replicas (Museum Replicas, Ltd.), while others make swords that are "historically-inspired" but made with modern materials and construction techniques (Cold Steel).

Either way, go to your local bookstore or library and look at some books on arms and armor, and/or militaria collectibles. This should give you an idea about what you want and how much it's going to cost you. Good luck!

If you are wanting a valuable collection of real swords, it will cost quite a bit. If you want replica swords, they can be had for as little as $30.00.

There are a number of books on this topic for serious collectors on the internet. Wouldn't be surprised if you just typed in " Sword Collecting" and got a bunch of links. You may get lucky at a flea market and find a real sword for under $50.00 but it probably wont be real valuable or in the greatest shape. This hobby can get as detailed as coin collection or stamp collecting. I wish you luck. I used to have several myself.

Simply hit up some "flea markets" and buy what interests you. Then read up on swords that you might like to look for and add to your collection when possible.

Check ebay on line here and see how to get screwed out of money if you are not paying attention.
