Ok, when Im done with college, Im projecting that I wil earn about 25,000-30,000 a year. Is this enough for a one bedroom house? Or should I stay with an apartment? Is it smart to go for a small house with one income?

read your question, then read it again, you have supplied no specifics. This is probably the best example of the impossible question to answer that i have seen in years

It depends on where you live. In Miami it would be impossible to find a decent house in a decent neighborhood on your income. Remember, too, that a house will require lawn maintenance which means a lawn mower and time to mow it:) Electric, gas and water may also be a bit higher with a house, depending on the size. If you're asking about buying a house, you won't have a 2 year employment history in order to qualify. Save your money for a down payment, pay all of your bills on time and don't get into debt with credit cards. If you follow these suggestions, you'll have a good chance of buying a small home in a couple of years.

So, an apartment would probably be your best bet until you get you feet securely planted in your new occupation. Or, consider sharing a townhouse or small home and split the expenses and rent.

Congratulations on your graduation, I'm assuming it will be this spring. Good luck, good life.

It depends on where you're living - in New York City or LA, figure on finding a roommate - in many other parts of the country, you cold afford an apartment. Save up money for a down payment for a house - you'll need some money for a down payment and closing costs, and a decent credit rating,to get a mortgage.

I think you should live in a apartment then when you get married you can add up money to get a real house! if you are married then do what is comfortable with the both of you!
