Well, look up nuisance wildlife removal companies in your area and ask them, but most likely they won't come looking for it, it'll have to be out and maybe even contained. Depending on the company (might want to ask before they show up) they may end up killing it after they remove it from your property.

There are many types of snakes that stay under a foot or so in length, just because it's small, doesn't make it a baby, and even if it was a baby, female snakes don't care for their young, they lay their eggs or give live birth and are gone, that's it. No maternal instinct.

Another option is to find someone who knows your local snakes and ask them if they could come take care of your problem, give them some gas money, offer them a beer, whatever, but if you can get a Joe Schmoe to do it for you, it won't cost nearly as much as a pest control company.

If you cannot find an expert to help you remove the snake (of course this should be your first option!), then you can use glue traps (these can be purchased about anywhere). Once the snake is on the glue trap, you can use other objects to get rid of it. You may want to have someone look at it before you get rid of it to make sure that it is venomous or non-venomous (this will help educate you and inform you in the future).

Killing it would be the wrong thing to do. Try searching in the local newspaper for someone who could come and catch this pest and release it where it won't be a bother.
