I have a snapper LT12 garden tractor It wont run?

I have a snapper LT12 garden tractor, if i put gas into the carb it will start, but if i try without dong that it wont. It will run it you put gas into the carb i dont know how to repair this?

I don't know about a tractor but if it was a car I would check the fuel pump
