You need to check out the condition of the shingles for age and wear. A common missed cause is a black mold which can be treated by the installation of a metal strip close to the roof peak which has a zinc compound in it. It installs just under the edge of the top row of shingle. When the rain hits it and runs down it will start clearing up after a while. You will find this to be a condition with changes made with the material used in shingle manufacturing. Check your local roofing supplier for contractors. I don't think Lowes, Home Depot and general suppy houses carry it. Good Luck

Yes it is bad. It means that your roof is coming to an end. The color granules that gave your roof it's color are getting thin. Go ahead and start getting estimates, you might think about getting the thicker longer wearing roof shingles they make them in 20 ,30, 40 years warranty's. Good luck.

It's shingles are pretty weathered out by the time you see the streaks....only way to clear them out is to replace the roof shingles...

you may want to get up and look, but it is probally from pollution in the air, if so the only problem is the eye sore.
