Ok I know I should know this but if something says you can find the average by dividing the sum of the subtotals(1330.88) by the sum of the numbers(1606)....which one do I do? 1330.88/1606 or 1606/1330.88???

when it says a number divided by another it means the first number mentioned is the numerator and the second number is the denominator

if you are asked to divide one number by another, the first number is on top and the second number, the number you are dividing by, is on the bottom.

divide 10 by 2 would be 10/2,

so to find the average, divide the sum of the subtotals , 1330.88 by the sum of the numbers, 1606, would be
1330.88/1606

If you say x divided by y, then it's x/y

1330.88/1606
