I'm a teacher and have been for 6 years, but want a new challenge, what do you recommend and how do I get into that profession?

i'm trained as an art teacher, but have been teaching students with special needs for a few years now. I have enjoyed the experience but feel I would like to do something completely different.

Depends upon what your skill strength is.

if you are good at math or science, consider computer type work.

if you like working with people and like psychology, consider counseling or social work.

if you are not sure what you like, check out your local community college and try to take a sampling of different classes over a year or so to see what you like.

if you are totally unsure, you might want to go to a career counselor who could administer interest type tests which could give you a clue as to what your other interests are.

also, why have you lost interest in teaching? perhaps you can teach a different subject or grade. you don;t mention if you teach in elementary school or higher. there are different available positions in any type of school.

if you like retail, there are ample of opportunities for that.

but whatever you get into, it will either require some time in school or starting from the bottom in some business.

To start, what is your subject ? Do you enjoy the subject enough to stay in a related line of work.

Go to a bookstore, the business sections. There are many books there on resumes, career changes, etc. Could be the best investment you ever made.

Good luck.

Hi Kim,
Perhaps working from home on your own schedule might appeal?
