I was just wondering. Is it wrong for me to go on a trip without my wife. I l have a passion for NASCAR racing, she really dont get into it. I like to go to one race every other year. I usually go with my brother and or my father (so it is not a party trip). She does not object too much. Am I being selfish by not doing a trip with my family instead (we do a family trip every year I do not go to a race).

No, not at all. And since she doesn't mind, there is no reason for you to feel guilty. Your are with your dad and brother. It's not something she wants to participate in, you're good to go. Go have a good time. You sound really sweet.

I thnk men underestimate their wives in many ways. A wife who is working and has to come home and cook and see to te children, get the washing done etc, literally works 24/7. I think there is no harm on taking a holiday once every 2 - 3 years but if you think about all that she does for you and the children should you not take her somewhere alone once in a while and find a baby-sitter or ask your parents to see to the grand children so you both can have some quality time together.

I think its sweet that you get given the right to go by your wife, but the fact that it is bothering you whetehr you should be doing this, means you knwo you need to be there for her.
THe choice is yours. She probably doesnt tell you how she really feels. BE careful! You might come home to an empty house one day!

On the surface, no, it's not wrong really. Just be clear on a few things: is she REALLY okay with it? Are you ONLY going to enjoy the racing? Do you still do things with the family?

Lastly, do you allow your wife to take a trip without you? In fact, if you go, make sure she is able to go on a trip for herself too. If all these questions are positive then go and enjoy yourself without guilt. Then when it's her turn, tell her to enjoy herself too. Everyone's happy, everyone wins and that's what makes a good marriage.

as a wife and a mother of 3, I say go on your trip. As long as you are taking the trip with trustworthy individuals (and it sounds like you are). Offer to keep the kids for her sometime in the future so she can have some time off too.(even if its only an afternoon at the day spa). Bring her back a nice gift or some flowers as a thank you. and remember to thank her for your "adult male time" by giving her some of your adult male time before you go!!

I think it sounds like you've got it worked out already. It's not wrong for you to do something you really enjoy with your Dad or brother. Your wife accepts it and you also spend time with your family vacationing, so it sounds like everybody gets what they want. Don't worry about it unless the wife objects.

I see absolutely no problem with this at all...so long as she doesnt have an issue with it i wouldnt worry too much about being your feeling selfish, besides, you do the family trips as well which is awsome!

Go to the race,,,,,,,,,have a great time,,,,,,,,,,you are not selfish,,,,,,,,,and plus while you are gone and she is sitting at home "boiling mad" because she is doing laundry and chores and you are out partying(doesn't matter if you are or not,,,,,,,,,,,,in their eyes you are out of state, drinking beer with the buds..........but that 's cool cause I hate NASCAR and while your gone,,,,,she will call me lookin for a little TLC!!!!!

Have fun at the race!

No this is not wrong. You're not avoiding family vacations and your wife knows where youre at and who you're with when you attend these races.

If she has no problem with it and you asked her to go as well, and maybe even let her know if she wanted to go by herself somewhere you wouldnt mind, but it definitely does not sound selfish...
