I'm so glad I asked this question - it's brought back so many happy memories! It was definitely 1 9 for a copy round my way, i seem to remember 1 9 was fm frequency and 2 9 was am frequency (or the other way round)

Weren't they great fun? Shame that it all evolved into chat rooms really, it's not quite the same.
I was Pink Lady. Did you guys ever go on fox hunts? They were a blast... Also met a previous boyfriend on the air after I fell for his sexy accent!!

Yeah! 10 4. I was Madsaddle, hell knows why, but then I was only about 10. My sister was Weasel, my mum was Equus, our friend was Crazy Horse.
I loved it. I tried my old Smoky Bear from my dad's car a while ago, and there was no-one there!

Where we were, 1 4 was the general chat channel, and 1 9 was supposed to be for truckers, but everyone used that channel too.
I even went to an eyeball!

In the USA all CB frequencies are AM. FM is not permitted on 27 Mhz CB... in the United States.

My Dad was a cab driver for a while so we had one in the house. Bloody noisy hissing annoying thing it was too.

The last time I used a CB was in the early 80's, but I have several of the old a.m. sets in my shed, also swr meters, aerials, etc.
I was 'Easyrider' back then. Those were good days.. :)
