Normally I would beat down any man kicking my dog, but I have a problem, my neighbor who kicked my dog is a woman and I don't want to beat down a woman. What is my best course of action?

First of all, don't be aggressive, you should never beat anyone for any reason!

Secondly, make sure that your dog does not pass over to neighbor's yards. I like animals, but wouldn't want any dogs roaming around on my property. Neither would I want to pick up dog remains...

Third, you should politely (and not aggressively) start a conversation and ask your neighbor why she did what she did. You may be surprised about the answer. Maybe you didn't see that your dog bit her or destroyed some of her property? Maybe she just doesn't like dogs or is afraid of them. You'll find out!

Communication is always better than assumptions or aggressive behavior. You expect your neighbor to be a good neighbor, but you should be an example of good neighborship yourself - keep your dog confined to your property.

Good luck !

Uh, yeah..."beating down" your neighbor is probably never a smart move.

We're not Neanderthals anymore.

I would talk to her and express my displeasure. I would tell her that after I took my dog to the vet of my choice (I'd choose the most expensive in town) to get an xray to check for internal injuries, then I would deliver the bill to her. If she failed to pay the bill, then I'd tell her to expect to spend a day in small claims court defending herself in a case she would almost certainly lose.

I would then tell her that at least I am not calling the police and having her cited for animal cruelty and trespassing, but that the next time it happened, I would. I would then remind her that if anything suspicious ever happened to my dog (injuries, poisoning, etc)...she is now and forever will be suspect number one.

Then I'd tell her to have a nice day.

Good Luck!

She was on your property? Well legally you should make a police report and then see if you can file charges for animal cruelty. But I have to be truthful. I am like you. I don't hit women. BUT I also own five dogs. I don't care what sex you are. You come onto MY PROPERTY, and hit any of my dogs, I will beat you down. End of story.

Have a female friend beat the heck out of her. I know I would beat her azz if it were my dog. But, of course, my dog has a pedigree and worth thousands. That might make all the difference.

Give her a pass, but talk to her and scare the living crap out of her and make sure she knows if she does it again there will be consequences. Make sure however you warn her it is something you can follow through on. I strongly believe in protecting you family and property by whatever means necessary. If you let her get away with it she will do again I guarantee it.

You can call the police, or you can get a female friend to beat her down on your behalf. I do have appointments open for just this type of thing.
