In America Gray, in England Grey. Or is it the other way around....?

Both are correct spellings. I thing gray is a variation of grey that developed in the the US. I came across this quote somewhere that I don't who to attribute is to:
Gray is a color.
Grey is a colour
This would suggest grey has a British origin. Both spellings are acceptable, just make sure you stick to one spelling in whatever you might write.

I believe GRAY is technically correct.

The entry for 'grey' on dictionary.com refers to 'gray' for the color definition. Grey would seem to be just a proper name.
