I agree w/ the first answer. The assistants at you eye doctor should help you. Explain your problem and ask for an appointment during a quiet time of day so they can demonstrate and you can practice under their guidance.

The key for me was to look downward - not straight ahead. I also held my lower lid down w/ my middle finger while applying the lens w/ the tip of my index finger using my dominant hand.

I wear soft contacts and the lens slides onto my eyeball with a slight nudge. My finger tip never has to touch my eyeball so knowing that helps me. I also insert my lenses over a sink so I can find it if it drops. My lenses have a "visible tint" meaning that they have a slight blue tinge so they are easier to find but do not alter my eye color.

Putting in contacts is like riding a bicycle, you need to practice but once learn, you never forget. It's also like learning to use chopsticks, there's a basic technique but each person has his/her own spin on handling them.

If you decide you want to just wear glasses, here's a great article about finding flattering frames:

It took me a while to get the hang of inserting contact lenses but now I can switch between glasses & lenses easily. Hang in there & good luck.

Don't be scared! It only took me a few seconds to put my first pair of lenses in my eye. You have to trust that they'll make you see better and your appearance.

Hold you eyes open with two fingers, place the contact lens on the other hand, make sure the contact lens is up and ready to go, then quickly put it in. Not too hard. Just don't be scared.

I had the same problem. I went back to the eye dr and they taught me that the trick is don't really watch your finger with the contact on it coming toward your eye. You sort of look past it. You can still see it but you are not looking right at it, if that makes sense. After I started doing that I never had any more problems. Good luck.

I used my other hand to lightly hold my eyelashes up ( with my arm over my head) seems to work.

but some people just can't use contacts.

glasses can be cute too. just make sure you eyebrows are always primped. that brings the attention to your eyes, rather then your eyebrows/forehead.

also... ive noticed a lot more compliments since i got half rimmed glasses. ( where the rim is only on the top half.)

hope ive helped a little

Probably the best thing to do is go back to the eye doctor and have them re-train you on how to insert and remove contacts. It does take a lot of patience and practice, which is mind-over-matter in so many ways. Best tips is to not move your eye, and hold your upper and lower eyelids tightly so you can't blink even if you wanted to!

Try and focus on your finger with the contact on it first, watch your finger while you get closer to your eye, slowly, keep looking at it the whole time, bring it up to your eye slowly, keep looking right at it, closer, until it sticks :) That way you wont "scare" your eye shut

Seeing people put in contacts for the first time is the funniest thing ever lol.

Anyway. It takes time + patience. Good luck! :)

first, if it REALLY bugs you you can try laser surgery but try looking the opposite way when putting the contact in.
