The definition of a Crumpet is " A Sponge for butter"..
Must be toasted so that it is just going crispy and starting to brown and then covered with a large spread of butter and then eaten when half the butter has melted and absorbed...

Toasted in front of a roaring fire with butter.... nothing just a good butter. Enough so that it drips down my chin,then the cat can lick it off..after i've finished my yummy crumpet.
My husband likes his crumpet hot and fruity ....if you get what I mean. Lol

Simply just with butter on till it melts through the bottom. Also must be done under the grill, not a toaster
