Replace your notebook hdd.... its that simple.

I would NOT turn off the SMART warnings... kind of like ignoring your engine check light.

Geek Squad offers a service that will install your new hdd for just $39 if you don't feel ambitious enough...

You will have to reinstall windows on that new hdd.. so get those restore disks and keep them handy.

Cheers!!

The drive is reporting your drive will probably fail soon. You need to immediately replace it so you won't lose any data or files you may have.

For laptops, I like to put a new drive into the laptop, boot from the Windows XP and let it install. For the new drive, I would recommend a larger faster drive, like a 7,200rpm drive with 8mb cache. Here's an example:

The simplest way to get files from your old drive is to get a USB drive adapter (about $12). It will make your old drive look like a D: drive, and you can copy over any files you want. You could also but an external drive cage, but it's about $25.

Does your PC still boot up and work properly? If so, disable smart drive in the system bios. If not, take it to the shop!
