I post on mostly movie & TV message boards, and I don't use bad language and I try to be nice, but it so often happens people answer me calling me an idiot and telling me I am wrong and stupid and rude, and they hate what I say... it makes me feel stupid and bad. Does this happen to anyone else much? Should I just cease reading and posting on message boards?

It's a dog eat dog world these days. I wouldn't care about it because there are a lot of bad people on the internet that just want attention so they can talk to people. Isn't that stupid? Ignore what people say if they're being rude to you and just be nice. I don't say mean things either to people like you so just ignore the rude people, and be nice to the nice ones. :)

Just kidding, but the internet can be a pretty hostile place. It isnt unusual, so try to get used to it.

there are always rude people, and the anonymity of the Internet magnifies that.
don't let them bother you. If they see thin skin, that encourages them.
