No. I'm not afraid to go to certain neighborhoods. I 'd be afraid to breakdown in certain neighborhoods, that's a different story.

Yeah, I am now.
I used to think you had to be doing something stupid, like walking alone at night or talking to weirdos or behaving inappropriately in a bad neighborhood to be singled out and mugged or whatever...raped etc...
Anyway, one day I turned down a wrong street in a ghetto neighborhood and people came off their porches to surround my car. One guy was yelling "Yooooou in the wrooong neighborhood bitchh" and another was hitting my window.
I did absolutely NOTHING to provoke this. I was trying to find a church in that neighborhood for a rehersal for my best girlfriends wedding and probably would have rolled my window down to ask directions if that hadn't happened.
Same neighborhood a year later, my girlfriends husband was sitting at a light talking on his cell phone and a guy walked up to the car punched him in the side of the head, took the phone and when my girlfriends husband got out of the car to take it back, the 15-16yr old kid that took it pulled a gun on him and told him to get back in his car.
Not going to visit, drive by, volunteer in, attend wedding in that neighborhood EVER again.

Nothing specifically happened to me there, but I've heard a lot and been there enough times to know it's sketchy! I actually do go there in the daytime when I have to, but I make sure to be gone by sunset!

If you lived where I live then you would know. I am about 2 1/2 hours from Chicago and our crime rate is higher then theirs is and we have fewer people here in this town. Pretty sad.
