I would go with Ortiz. Howard is a stud but Big Papi has a proven track record and a better team around him. Howard will be pitched around simply because he doesnt have the bats around him that Ortiz does plus there is always the risk of a sophmore slump (I dont think it will happen but the odds of a 50 HR season arent with him....how many guys in history have gone back to back 50 HR seasons?). Both are great talents....Ortiz doesnt have the same question marks as Howard.

Right now I'll take Ortiz. His season numbers are established as normal. Howard has done it once, and although he may continue to do it. I KNOW Ortiz will do it. I would rather have slightly smaller numbers and a sure thing than to bet my first round pick on potential.

But if Howard were available at the 9 or 10 pick, I probably would be tempted.

Ortiz, because he is a DH and has been much more consistent (actually he has put up great numbers for many years in a row while Howard has had one great year). Also many people do not expect Howard to repeat. Expect anywhere from 40-50 HR's from him. Either way you can't go wrong but i will take Papi.

Well, I would rather have Howard. He gets about 10-ish more HR's than Ortiz, and has much better speed and is younger too. He is a safer bet.

David Ortiz all the way! He seems to always get the Red Sox out of tough conditions with his home-runs. I luv him!

Howard, if your team is giving anypoints to fielding, but i still think ortiz will do better because manny bats around him and philly didnt go out to get another good bat

I would say Ortiz by a slight margin because he is a proven talent.

I would rather have Oriz because he is a great power hitter and he is very successful in game-winning situations
