Glade plug ins or burning candles.

It really depends on the house. As in, the surrounding environment, if you have pets, and so on.

But you could try scented candles. And I found a sort of recipe for carpet freshener that calls for ground dried lemon rind and baking soda. Mix the two up, sprinkle it on your furniture and carpet, then after a while vacuum it up. And it does have a lovely smell!

If on the other hand you have mold and mildew, you'll want to remove that.

If there is really nothing wrong with the smell of your house, don't sweat it.

Remember you will get use to the smell, so you will think its gone. People just coming in will smell the clean. That's the reasoning behind the air fresheners that change between a couple of different fragrances.

If your weather and surroundings allow it, open your windows and let the fresh air in. it brings a clean scent to your house. You can also use baking Soda when you vaccum and candles or air fresheners. I LOVE the wallflowers from Bath and Body Works, they can get pricey though. I consider them my luxery.

I use those plug-in air fresheners. They are scattered through the house (with the same fragrance). You can get the refills in many fragrances. Just pick the one you like.
