If two numbers have a common factor, then their difference is a common factor. Example, 26 and 29 (difference is 3). Three won't go into either one, so there is no common factor. Therefore, LCM = 26* 29.

Example, 32 and 34 (difference is 2). Two will go into 32, so it will also go into 34.

This problem, 111 and 112 (difference is 1). There is no common factor greater than 1.

Imagine 3 as as a possible factor. 3 goes into 111, 37 times. Will 3 go into the second number (112)? If it could then 112 would have to be at least 3 more or 3 less than 111. Since it's not, we know it won't go.

LCM is 111*112

111 = 3*37
112 = 2*2*2*2*7
as there are no common factors, the LCM is simply
111*112 = 12432
