The attack on Pearl Harbor abruptly put an end to our isolationist policy that we had after World War I. Many Americans felt that if we had become part of the League of Nations we might have made a difference. We didn't get involved about Japanese attrocities in Asia or the rise of the Nazis in Germany and the ensuing Holocaust.. We wanted no part of it. But since we were involved in the Allied victory in World War II we have gone over to the other extreme. We founded the United Nations to promote World Peace.. We consider what happens in other countries our concern. We have gotten involved in wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afganistan, etc. We try to stop oppression in other lands as in Bosnia. We also feel its our responsibility to fight hunger, draught, and other natural calamities. We changed our immigration policy to make it easier for oppressed people to immigrate here. This has added to our diversity. I hope this has helped you.

I agree that this is really something you do research on, but i can give you some information. since the Revolutionary war, the US had not been attacked on the home front until pearl harbor. you can imagine what this did for our culture, it was similar to the aftermath of 9-11. also, the Americans began to blame the Japanese immigrants for the attack saying that they were spys. this caused them to be thrown into internment camps like those in Germany around the same time. only the camps in the US were labor camps, not death camps.
