Thanks for the help, I'm new to this and look forward to trying a few things landscaping/gardening. My family will help out I'm sure, just wanted to have some idea of what I'm getting myself into first!

If you want something to come back every year you should go with a perennial type plant.
go to www.michiganbulb.com and find your zone and then you can search for plants/trees/flowers by your zone. it's a great web site and is very informative for the beginners.
