There's this guy at school. We're pretty good friends, but I've been finding hints that he likes me. He said he takes a bullet for me, will sometimes stick up for me when someone jokingly insults me, and stuff like that. Sometimes I feel that I might like him, while other times I just see as close buds. But I found that if I flirt with him, I can most of the time get what I want, like homework help, gum, etc. Is this right (considering that I occasionaly have feelings for him), or am I using him?

it sounds as if u r using him but u also have feelings for him. Maybe u should explore those feelings and see what develops

Well friends do help eachother with homework and spare a piece of gum etc. But maybe you should just outright ask instead of flirting when you want something-- that is what would imply 'using' someone. If you don't want to date him then make it clear you are just friends, because sometimes when friends date and it does not work out they find that they can not be friends afterwards. You might not want to jepordize your friendship. Good Luck!

It sounds like you are using him because you flirt with him when you only want something in return. That is not fair or inconsiderate to him and to yourself. If you like him in a romantic way just say it, but if you want to remain friends tell him. Don't keep teasing him and putting his hopes up. Because you are going to ruin a good friendship because he is going to feel like he is being used sooner or later and call you on it. Honestly, ask yourself if you really like him and picture yourself in a relationship with him, if not then stop.

You know what, it's o.k. You are at some level, using him. However, keep in mind that everyone uses somone else and most of us use alot of people. Like I use my wife for companionship, my som for growth and amusement, my cat for a copfort buffer, my boss for money, I could go on for hours. The thing is I am used just the same. It really is an overrated issue.
