so i just need hook a ethernet from my router slot to another computer? do i have to config anything? or program?

my computer with the router and modem is a vista and the computer im trying hook up is a XP Home Edition.

Do you want it to be harder than that? Plug the cable in and you should just work. If not check your network card settings.

Just hook a straight thru cat5 cable from one of the ports on the back of your router to the new computer. Make sure both computers have virus protection on them. Unlike what one person said, if you don't want to install Norton's Internet Security (bloatware IMO) you can use something free like AVG.

no you just hook up the cable and download a virus software on that computer do not install avg free get Norton Internet security
