I have an electric guitar that has been stored without strings on it and someone told me it could warp the neck. I have never heard this and the neck looks fine and the guitar still plays just fine.

It's actually bad to store a guitar WITH strings. Strings put tention on the neck and warp it. The fact that you stored it without strings is a good thing. I would take it to your local gutar shopto get a basic lookover though so that your guitar is in playing shape, not assume it's in good shape. Smart idea storing without strings. You are one of the few.

Only the frets can warp. Either with or without strings attached. The neck itself, should not warp, if it has a steel reinforcing rod inserted.

If you leave a guitar un-stringed for a prolonged period of time, the fret board warps and the guitar is ruined.

Seems we have two schools of thought. Try contacting the guitar manufacturer or a luthier for the answer.

No, it's the opposite if your strings are on and not loose it will warp the neck.

Its possible that it "could" warp. Id rather leave the stings on,but "could" and "will" warp are completely different verbs.
