What you can do is download a utility like this & then assign a shortcut key on any programmable keyboard with the executable command line & necessary switches for an immediate power off. :

If you have a keyboard with a "sleep" button on it you could configure that to tell Windows to shut down. (via the Power Options control panel's advanced tab.)

With WindowsXP if you press the power button on the computer it should shutdown Windows and turn off. (Also configurable via the Power Options control panel's advanced tab.) Holding the power button for a bit and then releasing it should force the computer to turn off if it has totally locked up. Something I've had to do more times then I care to remember.

You can either...

a) Click and Hold the Power off button on the system case.

b)Click in once quickly the Power off button on the system case.

c)Click Alt and F4 together when no programs are running and your at the desktop. Then turn off as normal. (Alt F4 also closes any window down)
