My middle name is Jean and have no idea why I was given that name. I didn't used to like it until I heard the song sung by the guy who played on Star Trek (Mr Spock) and it was entitle "Jean" and I always thought it to be a pretty song.
My mother's name is Sally Azell now why my grandmother chose Azell, I will never know. My dad did not like his middle name so had it removed from all of his records - I don't know what it was.

Middle names are a tradition of German origin, where surnames did not exist, and so, people acquired the first name of a dead relative as tribute to them.
In the rest of Europe, we do not have middle names.

Mine is "Lee" and my brother`s is as well. We used to have a sign out side of our house when we were younger saying "The Lees", I`ve never asked where it came from as my parents are divorced and it never came up really. I do love it though, I always think the cakes "Sarah Lee" were made just for me!!!!

Mine's David and it means beloved. That's me. It's a family Christian name handed down through generations.
It's traditional in my family for the children to have two Christian names.

Jeannette. I love it, and it is a family name--my grandmother and mother both have it for their middle name as well, and I will pass it on if I have a daughter.

Andrea, my brother's choice. Dad got to choose my first name. Mom said that she didn't care what I was named, that it took all of her energy just to have me.
I like my names, but I wish people would stop "nicking" my name.
