They were scattered throughout the world thousands of years ago. Apparently by their god who they must have pissed off royally.

So 1947-48 rolls around and all of a sudden they have a right to a homeland??? How does that work?

Can I claim a right to your house and walk in with a gun and force you out? Or do I need an old dusty set of scrolls where it is "written" that i have a right to your house.

Just asking cause i don't get it.
Please don't get me wrong I don't hate anyone, not in the least bit. So please try and avoid calling me names.

Doesn't peace start with atonement? And in this case would that start with the Israelis? The Arabs were just hanging out riding camels before 1947 living side by side with Jews in the land now called "Israel" Then all of a sudden the Jews (with the help of the Allied powers, who were punishing the Arabs for picking the wrong side in WWII) decided they had a right to a homeland and kicked the Palestinians out of their homes and off their land.

To answer your basic question, "What exactly gives the Israelis the right to a homeland?" the answer is 'nothing'. Of course that answer is dependent on the interpretation of scripture. The alternate answer is 'everything' which is also dependent on the interpretation of scripture. Divorced of all scriptural context, the idea of a 'Jewish Homeland' more or less started with the Zionist movement around the turn of the last century before WWI. Some Arabs picked 'the wrong side' as you put it in WWII in response to the Zionist's. Also, the Allies did not support Israel in the beginning unless you consider recognizing that the defacto existence of the State of Israel as support. The US didn't even support Israel militarily until after the '68 war.

Same question, gets the same answer. . .

First of all the Palestinians did not live in Palestine prior to the creation of the Jewish state of Israel. The holy land was controlled by the British and was mostly populated by Christians.

After WWII the British handed the land over to the UN because the British had promised the land to both the Muslims and the Jews. While the UN was making a decision groups of Muslims from surround regions started moving into Palestine to try and obtain squatters' rights.

The UN decided to divided the land among the Jews and the Palestinian squatters. The Jews were happy with the land they had received but the Muslims were angry that the Jews had received any land and began the violence that continues till today.

I think the real villain in the story is the British who could not make a decision about who to give the land to and therefore started 50 years of fighting.
