small puffers are cool, you may even get lucky and find a few small blues or reds (you'd have to release them eventually), baby blue crabs a few oysters, perhaps a baby hermit (Watch the queen conchs, and blue stars they are not allowed.) Anything your salt water licnese allows you to catch. A few sea squirts perhaps.

There are tons and tons of species roaming the canals of south florida that you would see in pet shops. They often have escaped breeding farms over the decades and now live wild throughout the lakes, streams and canals. Most states allow the net capture and captive ownership of anyting not classified a game fish. Contact the State Wildlife Division and they should be able to provide you wih a list of prohibited species.

Best of luck and good hunting!

I don't know about legal, but you should leave wild animals in the wild. Also, if you get a fish from a breeder or quality aquarium store, the chances of it being healthy enough to survive the stress of transport and a new home are greatly increased.

Contact Florida Fish and Game Dept.
Sometimes fines can be very harsh.
Not only what species but size is a big factor.
