I have a Master's degree in Education from NY state but I am Canadian. I understand that some states have teacher shortages, so perhaps that would facilitate the process?

I agree with Michael. Why the heck do you want to work in a country that is about to start a war on a flimsy excuse?

If you cant find any jobs in the cities - why not try the rural areas? They are not backward places. And they usually need good teachers. Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario would be good places to try.

On the other hand - I do understand if the education system here does not recognize your qualifications because they are not Canadian. I have a friend who has a Masters in Education from a US university and while she could get work as a teacher in Canada, she was paid less than those with Canadian teaching certificates. So she took a year off and went back to school to get her Ontario teaching certificate.

A Master's degree in Education is not a guarantee of entry into the noble teaching profession, one also needs to possess special skills in certain given areas of education. So, in your case, if you can match the needs where there is a teacher shortage, there is no reason why you should not get what you are looking for!

You might want to go to the state's website and see if they have job listings. Or u can go the U.S. website for government jobs. U might get something good there.

Best of luck.
