When I say "Godzilla" I mean the American version from 1998.

When I say disappointment I am referring to changes to things that we are accustomed or identify as part of the Transormers. For example, a major problem with GINO (Godzila in Name Only) is that he did not blow fire (radiation) from its mouth.

I think Transformers will not only be a hit but be a good movie as well.
Hollywood has tried numerous times to do an 'Americanized' version of 'Godzilla'. They have failed miserablly each time. No one in Hollywood has been able to capture the sheer essence of why Godzilla is so popular to begin with.

No, Godzilla was the biggest disappointment ever. Transformers may be disappointing, but nothing will ever compare to the disappointment of Godzilla. Godzilla had higher expectations as well so that also made it more disapppointing.

Well, I have seen every series of Transformers since the beginning of television and conclude that there are plenty of opportunities to mess things up.

1. They could have them not talk in English. - that would suck!

2. not staying true to the fact that the decepticons fly while autobots are all land based vehicles.

3. and finally a lot of the dialog between humans and the transformers.

With Michael Bay behind the wheel, I'd bet serious money it's going to be a disappointment. I've seen a good number of his movies, and he hasn't failed to disappoint me yet.
I'm expecting over-the-top seriousness and some really lame, hokey dialogue. The special effects look friggin cool though.

I don't really remember much about "Godzilla" with Mathew Broderick, but I think Transformers will only be 2nd in the box office when it comes out.

I think the hype machine will kill the Transformers. Micheal Bay is the new Joel Schumacher. I think it will be awful.
