Ladybugs are so cute - but here in Eastern Ontario we are now overrun with the biting kind so I tend to give them a healthy distance. They're not poisonous or anything, it just really pinches.

One time I found a really colourful leafy all rolled up so I brought it home - carried it in my pocket the whole way - with the intention of unrolling it and pressing it. I left it on the counter for a day or so and then I sat down with two sheets of paper towel and a large book. I unrolled the leaf very carefully so as not to break it....

...and found the ugliest damn spider in a coccoon-like web all tucked away inside. I think I stopped shrieking about 20 minutes later.
