I'm working on a King Arthur fan-fiction, and can't keep calling them his horse, their horses, mounts, steeds, or that horse throughout the entire fic. It would be quite tedius, not to mention repetitive.

If you look up the authentic Welsh sources, Sir Caradawg Vreichvras' horse was called Lluagor. Seriously.

I am also writing an Arthurian novel, about Sir Caradawg & Lady Tegau Eurvron, but I'm afraid I don't know the names of the other steeds owned by the other knights. But at least one horse is better than no horse.
Like you, I shall probably have to make up some names.
Good luck with your book!
P.S.: Oh, yes, now I remember - Gawaine's horse was called Gringalet. Thanks for asking your question. It jerked my own memory!!!
I've come back to edit this. One of Arthur's horses was called Dun Stallion (R.Wright; A History of Castle Eden in Search of Arthurian Legend).

Read Sir Thomas Mallory's original book before you start writing spin-offs.
