Was he a Real Person? and did he do anything other than plant Apple Trees?

Yes. His birth name was John Chapman.

His main claim to fame was planting apple seeds throughout Ohio, Indiana, and other midwestern states.

Most apple trees on the frontier were the product of grafting, which he felt was cruel to the trees, so he collected apple seeds from cider presses and went about planting them.

He was also a missionary of sorts for the Swedenborgian faith.

Chapman was never at risk from the Native American populations, because they considered him to be a shaman. To harm such a one would be to risk supernatural retribution.

He was a real person.
In elementary school, I remember reading a book about him that said he planted apple trees for the people because they didn't have enough to eat.

like me, except i gave out windmill palm tree seeds in South Carolina since the state tree is a palm.i gave out about 3 thousand seeds to about a thousand people while going door to door sales.he was a real person
i got the idea of giving out seeds since a Doctor years ago gave away hundreds of palms trees he raised in a Town here in South Carolina and you see them all over that town
