I buy what I need to do the job and I could care less where it was made but I do know that most American made products are just a little better than crap. They break down just as fast as most other products and in some cases faster than others. I'd NEVER buy a car made in the US. I bought one new one time and it broke down 2 months and two weeks later. American made cars are junk.

That's a complex question. Buying local produce, for instance, rather than buying from other countries isn't always possible, but when it is, it's often cheaper.
I believe in buying American, because I don't like sweat shops which often produce our foreign goods, and because I think America needs industry. Our society seems to me to be moving towards purely technological industry, as our basis and production outsources, and that's not good. It's devaluing a college education and forcing people to get one even if they don't want them to participate in our job market and forcing people into debt.
HOWEVER, I will not buy American cars, for instance, largely because they tend to be far less fuel efficient and environmentally sound than Japanese ones. They're also large, boxy, and ugly. Eew. I try to buy things that are environmentally sound AND made in the USA, and that doesn't seem to happen very much.

Until 1998, I would have. In 1998, my father started making weekly trips into New York City with a man in his church, who drove a truck.
My father saw the conditions in the NYC factories.
Let's just say our world needs to apologize to the Muck-rakers who fought to change factory conditions in the US.
Todays Liberals aren't very effective, in my opinion. They have lost their moral imperative.
Global economy is complex.

If the only comparable is price, no, but there is much more to a purchasing decision than price. Lets say you want to buy a parachute, are you going to be so stupid as to buy the cheapest.........not me.
But a tv, computer, maybe some shirts, shoes, cars............if tey are apples to apples I am going to buy cost effectively.

Yes, i would. You didn't ask, "how much more. " but if the extra were affordable, then, no contest.
