- Shaquille O'Neal, Lamar Odom, Caron Butler, Brian Grant - last year, now, and for the long haul. Assume they are on a team in the western conference - Deep playoff run? Early exit? No playoffs? Championship? Also, given the fact that Shaq has missed an average of 14 games a season due to injury every year since 2002 and 39 games this year, account for how this team would do without Shaq for long stretches of time. Go.

I think it would be an early exit, even though Shaq has missed a lot of games in the season he has always proven himself in the playoffs. If Shaq gets injured I see Lamar and Caron stepping up,mind you Caron is having a career year and Lamar has shown flashes of his brilliance and that Pippen-like game people talk about him being capable of.All he lacks is consistency and Brian Grant hmmm isn't he retired?.This team lacks a big time or clutch scorer. It couldnt be Odom because he tends to choke down thea stretch and deliver costly turnovers,Caron still has yet to prove himself in playoff games, hopefully he contributes well for the wizards this year and Shaq is already in his prime,he is in a bit of a decline.Brian Grant?hmmmmm injured list?retirement? or watching in the stands?.In the long haul if either or if both Odom and Butler develop to become stars and form a duo they could make serious damage come playoff but what if they dont?then the core isnt working, the construction of this core will become flawed.

Not very good. Shaq is too old and not very healthy, Odom needs a great player around him for him to put up ok numbers and grant hasn't done anything since he has been in the league. Caron Butler would be the best player and we don't even now if he really is this good or if he is having one good season like Stephen Jackson did a couple years ago.

Might make it if there were in the east, but not if they were in the west.
