For anyone that lives in or near Grand Junction, Colorado, where would be the closest place to go to either the Pacific Ocean or a sound such as Puget Sound that has Salt Water? Please don't say Salt Lake City, that's not what interests me. Where would you suggest and how long in hours and miles would it be from Grand Junction?
I was told that Los Angeles would be the closest area to go to the ocean but that would be at least 13 hours from Grand Junction. Is there no other place one can go to?

Los Angeles is the closest ocean . The next closest is the gulf of Mexico but that is 15 hours away.

Yep, Los Angeles it is.
San Francisco/San Jose would be about the same distance, maybe a bit closer if you don't use interstate freeways, but the beaches there are colder and windier. I happen to prefer them, but most people like the Southern beaches better.
