In a desktop pc memory sticks are usually the only vertical cards in your motherboard. There are usually 2 or 4 slots. Make sure you buy the right type for your motherboard(ddr-ddr2 etc.) They will only fit in your motherboard 1 way and are easy to install. Make sure you dont touch the gold contacts, push them in firmly until you can snap the top and bottom clips in place. Touch the side of your case before you start to get rid of any static electricity. Go to Pricewatch.com for good prices.

The downloaded stuff like games or movies go in your HARD DRIVE. It's compared to your RAM (used for fast calculations and processing) much slower and cheaper. They are both called memory.
They are both replacable by better, faster or bigger (and thus more expensive) versions.

Please be more specific. You could be meaning Ram or Hard disk space. If you need more ram, you need to determine what kind by looking it up and also you need to see what your computer's max ram capability is. If you need more space on your computer to store data etc, then you will want to first determine how many GB yours has and the max your computer can handle. To see how much disk space you have, click on start, go into my computer, and right click on your hard drive to get to properties. Here you will see how much yours can handle and also how much is being used. Look everything up and then you can go shopping. It is fairly simple to install both, but first you need to do the above.
Hope this helped.
Good Luck!

You don't "add more memory to download more stuff", you would get an additional hard drive to increase your storage capacity.

If you are talking Hard drive space the only way is to get a new hard drive. If you do this there are programs available that you can migrate all you old info to your new HD or you can piggyback a new hard drive to your existing HD. There are also external hard drives you can get to store more stuff.
Good luck.

www.crucial.com has a memory scanner which is fantastic
http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/
This can help you determine which memory you have.
You can also buy memory at crucial.com.
You can also read step by step instructions on how to install it.
And no, I don't work for crucial.com.
